Allergy tests

Allergic diseases and conditions diagnosed by the Laboratory for Allergological and Immunological Diagnostics at the Institute of Virology, Vaccines, and Sera “Torlak” include:

  • Respiratory allergies (allergic rhinitis, asthma)
  • Skin allergic manifestations (eczema, urticaria, drug-induced rash)
  • Sinus inflammation, nasal polyps, local allergic rhinitis, eosinophilic rhinitis
  • Asthma (assessment of inflammation activity by determining ECP levels)
  • Mast cell disorders-mastocytosis (determination of serum tryptase)
  • Food allergy (testing for IgE-mediated early reactions to food)
  • Insect sting allergy (bee, wasp, hornet)
  • Drug allergy (penicillin preparations, alfacet, Leptosukcin) – first phase of testing
  • Atopic predisposition (assessment of susceptibility to allergic diseases with screening tests – PHADIATOP and PHADIATOP INFANT)
  • Allergy profile (determination of IgE against selected recombinant and native allergenic components)
  • Monitoring the effect of allergen-specific immunotherapy (determination of IgG4 antibody class)

Preparation of patients:

A light breakfast is allowed. When a patient is unable to be present, there is the option to provide a blood sample (3-5 mL of venous blood) or serum obtained by centrifuging blood (minimum 1 mL of serum, following the cold chain principle) with expert assistance. Acceptance of such material is possible every working day until 1:00 PM.

Therapy does not affect in vitro test analyses, which is an advantage of allergy in vitro diagnostics.

Working hours:

Reception of patientsMonday: 08:00 – 15:30
Tuesday-Friday: 08:00 – 14:30
Reception of patients for skin prick testingThursdays from 11:00 – 12:00
Reception of patients for consultative allergological examinationMondays and Wednesdays from 11:00 – 12:00
Issuing of resultsMonday: 08:00 – 16:00
Tuesday-Friday: 08:00 – 15:00
The break for patient admission is every working day from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Thank you for your understanding.
