Autovaccines

Autovaccines are made in the Laboratory for Bacteriology at the Institute of Virology, Vaccines, and Sera “Torlak” for the treatment of chronic bacterial infections of the urogenital system, respiratory system, acne, wound infections, eye, nose, and ear infections.

These vaccines are individually prepared for each patient from the bacterial strain causing the infection and discomfort.

They are conveniently administered in the form of sublingual drops, and their use does not exclude other necessary therapeutic procedures.

Autovaccines are well-tolerated and do not have significant adverse reactions.

Autovaccines are used:

  • For persistent, recurrent bacterial infections caused by Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus, Proteus, Klebsiella
  • For infections that don’t respond to standard antibiotic therapy due to them being caused by multidrug-resistant and resistant bacteria.
  • In cases of allergies to antibiotics.
  • For treating infertility caused by infections of the genital tract.

Those who are not candidates for the production of autovaccines include:

  • Patients with active tuberculosis, malignancy, or autoimmune processes
  • Pregnant women
  • Children under 12 years old

Procedure:

The patient provides a sample (urine, sputum, swab) at “Torlak” Institute or brings/sends a bacterial isolate on bacterial culture media. Clinically significant bacterial isolates identified in our laboratory are included in the autovaccine preparation process, which takes 8 to 10 weeks.
