Allergens

Allergy – Epidemic of the 21st Century

Despite the development of various types of medications for treating allergic diseases, the number of affected individuals increases every year and tends to further rise across all age groups. Timely diagnosis is the path to targeted therapy. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), allergen immunotherapy is the only treatment that naturally alters the disease and its progression into more severe forms such as allergic asthma.

The allergen production department manufactures various types of allergenic products for in vivo diagnostics and allergen immunotherapy based on the individual patient’s allergen profile.

Allergen solutions for diagnostics include:

  • Prick testing: The initial step in assessing IgE-mediated allergic diseases. It’s a quick and simple screening test for in vivo testing of allergies to inhalant allergens and food allergens.
  • Intradermal testing: A type of skin testing used to confirm allergies in patients with a weak response to prick testing.
  • Provocative testing: Nasal and bronchial provocation tests are designed to diagnose allergic rhinitis and asthma.
  • Patch testing: Skin testing to confirm contact allergies, involving the application of the most common causes of contact allergies.
  • Penicillin allergy testing (PPL): PPL is a preparation used to confirm allergies to penicillin in cases of early reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics. It represents the so-called “major” determinant in penicillin allergy.
  • Diagnostic preparations for occupational diseases: Solutions for patch and bronchoprovocation testing. They are made from the material with which the patient comes into contact.

Dispensing method: The medications are dispensed exclusively upon request from specialized clinics that deal with allergy diagnosis and therapy.

Allergen immunotherapy :

Sublingual (SLIT)

Allergen immunotherapy is an optimal treatment for patients aged 5 to 55 years. The therapy is specifically tailored to the patient’s allergen profile using selected allergenic extracts. Adjuvants include buffered saline solution, glycerol, and water for injection. The preparation is administered sublingually according to the recommended dosing schedule aimed at reducing symptoms associated with atopic allergies (IgE-mediated allergic conditions). They are produced in standard concentrations for specific allergen types from the Institute’s production program for Dermatophagoides pt. and various types of pollen – grasses, weeds, and trees. Packaging is available in 8 mL vials.

Subcutaneous immunotherapy (DEPO/SCIT)

Allergen immunotherapy specifically targets the patient’s allergen profile using selected allergenic extracts. The adjuvants include buffered saline solution, aluminum phosphate, and water for injection. The preparation is administered subcutaneously exclusively in facilities specialized in allergy diagnosis and therapy, under medical supervision. Packaging comes in 5 and 10 mL vials. Depot allergens are produced in standard concentrations for specific types of allergens from the Institute’s production program (Dermatophagoides pt., insect venoms – bee, wasp, hornet, and various types of pollen – grasses, weeds, trees).

Issuance Method: The preparations are exclusively dispensed based on a medical report/prescription.

Storage Method for Allergens: The preparations are stored in a refrigerator at a temperature of 2-8°C. Do not freeze.
