Animal farm Rakovica selo

Since 1930, the Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera “Torlak” has built dedicated facilities for the breeding and keeping of laboratory animals used in the production and control of vaccines and sera from the production program of “Torlak” Institute.

The area in the part of the city called Rakovica selo has been part of “Torlak” Institute for many years, and on that green area, new facilities will be built, for housing and keeping laboratory animals with appropriate infrastructure, as well as a facility for the production of microbiological media. The facilities will be built according to the latest standards with compliance with regulations and the Law on Veterinary Medicine of the Republic of Serbia, as well as with respect for contemporary ecological standards and environmental protection.

“Torlak” Institute owns guinea pigs, laboratory mice, rabbits, turkeys, viper snakes, horses and rams. In addition to these animals, the Institute will expand its production program and in its assortment will also have mini pigs, rabbits, rats, and inbred mice, which will satisfy the needs of various institutes and faculties in the Republic of Serbia for laboratory animals.

With the great expertise and commitment of our staff, respecting the Law on Animal Welfare, we can boast of good quality laboratory animals, which our new users will also be familiar with.
