The Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera "Torlak"

The Institute of Virology, Vaccines, and Sera “Torlak” conducts healthcare activities in the fields of microbiological and virological diagnostics, as well as the production of sera, vaccines, medications, and other immunobiological and diagnostic preparations, medical devices, and dietary products.

The Institute “Torlak” also engages in scientific research and educational activities in accordance with the law.

Furthermore, the Institute “Torlak” carries out trade operations, involving the import and export of medicines, medical devices, dietary products, and raw materials for the production of medicines and other substances in accordance with the law.

Within its activities, the Institute “Torlak”:

Monitors and investigates, examines, determines, and introduces or implements professional and scientific methods for the prevention and diagnosis of infectious diseases, produces sera, vaccines, and other immunobiological and diagnostic preparations and supplies healthcare institutions on the territory of the Republic of Serbia;

  • The Institute “Torlak” conducts microbiological, virological, immunobiological, epidemiological, and biochemical research and investigations, as well as examinations, analyses and testing;
  • Also analyses related to the development of bacteriological, virological, immunobiological, and other preparations, as well as diagnostic agents for human, veterinary, and general use;
  • Participates in the establishment and implementation of doctrinal guidelines in the field of prevention and diagnosis of infectious diseases;
  • Conducts professional development and specializations for healthcare workers and associates;
  • Organizes and implements internal quality control;
  • Organizes and implements measures in the event of natural disasters and other major emergencies;
  • Manages medical waste in accordance with the law;
  • Performs other tasks that are in line with the functions of a healthcare institution.

In providing healthcare services, the Institute “Torlak” offers preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic health services in the following areas of healthcare, specialties, and subspecialties: microbiology, virology, biochemistry, immunology, immunochemistry, epidemiology, pharmaceutical technology, drug testing and control, veterinary medicine, and molecular biology.

The Institute “Torlak” also engages in foreign trade activities, specifically, it conducts trade operations, imports and exports medicines, medical devices, raw materials for drug production, and other substances in accordance with the law. Additionally, it engages in wholesale trade of medicines and medical devices.
