The ‘Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project (SAIGE)’ is crafted to offer support to institutions dedicated to enhancing the relevance and excellence of scientific research while empowering entrepreneurship in the Republic of Serbia. This initiative significantly contributes to the growth and competitiveness of the Serbian economy. Implemented under the joint auspices of the World Bank – International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (WB-IBRD) and the EU, the Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia serves as the coordinating entity for implementation within the country.
– The Reform of the Research Sector encompasses several key components, including supporting the functional transformation of scientific research institutions, financing programs of the Science Fund with a specific emphasis on fostering connections between the economic and academic sectors, promoting the development and enhancement of cooperation with the EU and the Serbian diaspora, reinforcing the Science Fund to ensure its sustainability, and elevating the skills of researchers to facilitate access to international sources of funding.

The transformation of the Institute of Virology, Vaccines, and Sera “Torlak“
The objective of transforming the Institute “Torlak” with the support of the SAIGE project is to amplify the application potential of research results derived from basic research, aligning them with the developmental priorities of the Institute. By leveraging scientific results and innovations, the transformation aims to enhance the production and diagnostics capabilities of the Institute, ultimately elevating the quality of healthcare provided to the population. Moreover, this transformation seeks to boost visibility, recognizability, competitiveness in the international market, and overall societal progress.
